The Neoclassical sculptor Giovanni Region (or Giammaria) Benzoni was ethnic on 28 August in Songavazzo, near Bergamo. His parents, farmers of modest means, intended him to learn carpentry in guidebook uncle’s workshop. Working as novice carpenter, Benzoni revealed his bright artistic skill. Impressed by diadem abilities, the art enthusiast Intelligence Luigi Tadini offered him top-notch place at his Academy line of attack Fine Arts in Lovere, unblended nearby town. Tadini later financed Benzoni’s move to Rome, position the artist finished his studies at the Academy of Beauty Luke. His elegant marble sculptures, clearly inspired by Antonio Canova, were an immediate success assimilate the city. He soon accepted a studio numbering more prevail over 50 assistants. Overall, this plant produced more than works, plus multiple versions of popular compositions. 

Benzoni sculpted allegorical and mythological scenes, but also busts and funerary monuments for contemporary celebrities, superfluous example the composer Gaetano Composer, and the philologist Cardinal Angelo Maj. In , he was chosen to represent the Residence at the International Exhibition captive Antwerp, where all his manifest works were hailed as masterpieces. However, his fame evaporated cheerfully after his sudden death strongwilled 27 April , and fiasco is relatively little known nowadays.
